Academic profile
My academic interest and research has been on the relationship between fear of death, religion and health. This topic has developed considerably in recent decades, however, there is relatively little research on the relationship between diffrent dimensions of religiosity and spirituality, fear of death, and health variables among Gypsies and health outcomes.
Fear of death, of some relevance in Gypsy culture, could have an impact on health. Furthermore, religiosity is an important aspect in the way Gypsies cope with health issues, thus fear of death may ultimately influence their health outcome. We have assessed the influence of different dimensions of spirituality and fear of death on health measures, studying the possible moderating effect of these dimensions of spirituality and the influence that the fear of death may have on health.
We suggest, according to the results, possible implications and preventive health measures, from a psychological and pastoral perspective.
