Academic profile
The academic interests include researching of cultural concept "ours - alien". We consider isolation as a means of preserving the identity and a conscious reaction in cases of negative attitudes of macrosociety. The attention is paid to border intercultural sharing and cultural interaction with the indigenous population of Roma for a considerable period of time.
We study the separation of Ukrainian Roma by profession, lifestyle, language or dialect, the level of consciousness and sense of ethnic exclusivity. The author focuses on the specifics of musical culture traces career of Gypsy music dynasties Okhtyrka in the context of local history, highlights key aspects of their work, and defines the role of Gypsy musical tradition in the preservation of Ukrainian folklore.
Oral sources, photos and videos from family archives to help reconstruct the past and reproduce life story of one man, family, group of people, including Gypsies Okhtyrshchyna. We examine the problem of oral history approach to the study of the Gypsy ethnic group, the implications features ethnic culture in communication with the outside world.
The author examines the question of the genocide of the Roma during the Second World War, the Roma participation in the fighting. We discus the behaviour of the Roma during the occupation.
