Academic profile
Being a practicing Roma rights activist, my main interest is connecting the academic research to the fieldwork and case-studies and vice versa.
I believe that as the research would benefit strongly from staying connected to the community, which is the object of the research, it is also vitally important to bring the findings in the field to the academic level, to analyse them, so that they later contribute to the policy-making process.
During my MA studies I became interested in the various methods of data collection, especially participant observation and the data analysis. I have since then been involved in the fieldwork mostly in Lithuania, applying and improving my current knowledge.
Currently I am running and monitoring the project on the role of entrepreneurship for the Romani women and I am most interested in setting the practical findings into a broader academic context, to later present them at the conference (my abstract is accepted for presentation at the conference of the Gypsy Lore Society in Istanbul in September 2012).
