Academic profile

I have an interest In conflict, resolution, mediation and transformation, this interest is linked to my experience gained working both as an advocate and community development worker and from my time spent managing both these topics. I also have an interest in the effects caused from being subjected to or affected by violence. My other area of interest is the differences and similarities shared by Roma, Gypsy and Travellers and those from other communities of their perceptions of social cohesion and why this does not happen. I Have undertaken research with children from the Gypsy and Traveller community looking at their fears and experiences from have to endure change in the form of (moving home, school and locality) Research with Traveller women moving into bricks and mortar and how this can be from need as opposed to choice. Breaking the cycle of abuse looking at how domestic abuse can affect the family unit and prevent family ability to function. Research undertaken with Gypsy and Traveller families living on a site and how they see facilities offered and the way local authorities treat them. Their ability to have an informed voice.
