Academic profile
The aim of my research paper is to analyze experiences and attitudes of Roma and non-Roma women from a rural community in Romania regarding different forms of gender-based violence. The research proposal aims to identify whether intersectionality plays a key role in the construction of power relations inside the community and to investigate in what way - if at all - existing public policies take into consideration such intersecting notions, resulting in differences, as gender, ethnicity, and class. The proposed study will be an empirical inquiry that investigates how various types of power asymmetries determine the role and behavior of women experiencing different forms of violence and in what way this is a personal or a political concern.
