Academic profile

Voluntary work for Caritas in Rome and SOS Rasisme in Trondheim in the beginning and middle of the 1990s led to a deepened engagement for the situation of Romani asylum seekers and refugees.  After my Master’s degree in Romani Studies & Social Science 2001(University of Greenwich, London) I have conducted research, written and lectured about national minority issues, migration, racism and Romani Studies in places such as the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul, Istanbul Bilgi University, American University in Cairo and Uppsala University.

I have also worked with exhibition projects and international cultural exchange programmes at Malmö Museum and the Stockholm Cultural Council. From 2007 to 2012 I worked in the Swedish Government Offices as inquiry secretary and special adviser. I am now an independent consultant and am currently monitoring an ESF-funded Romani exhibition project at the Gothenburg City Museum.
