Brief introduction

Sara Memo is a PhD Candidate at the School of International Studies, University of Trento. She has a European MA in Human Rights and Democratization from the European Inter-University Centre of Lido-Venice (2007) and an MA from the University of Padua in Political Science specializing in Institutions and Politics for Human Rights and Peace (2006). She worked as a junior researcher for the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padua and as assistant policy Officer for the Children’s Ombudsman of the Veneto Region from 2005 to 2009. In the a.y. 2010-2011, she worked as a teaching fellow in the area of Law for the European Master in Comparative Local Development at the School of Local Development of Trento. In 2011-2012 she worked at the European Commission (DG EMPL) for the transnationality policies under the European Social Fund. She is currently completing her PhD dissertation in the area of comparative constitutional law. The dissertation provides a legal analysis on the rights guaranteed to Roma at the national level for all the countries belonging to the CoE.

She was a researcher for the Children’s Ombudsman of the Veneto Region and for the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padua from 2005 to 2009. She has published in the areas of politics and human rights with a focus on children. She is currently researching on the areas of comparative public law and international law with a specific interest on Romani rights. She speaks Italian as her mother tongue and has an excellent knowledge of English, French and Spanish and a working knowledge of German.
