Academic interests: Social-juridical status of Roma people in Tsarist Empire in 19th century; Roma community in 19th century in Principality of Moldavia and Walachia; policy of ‘Roma villages’; deportation and daily life of Roma people in Transnistria during WWII; Roma people in URSS; representation of Roma people in visual arts; present situation of Roma in Europe; oral history in Roma communities.
Research expertise: fieldwork in Roma communities in Republic of Moldova (interviews within various Roma communities and part-time work in Roma NGO projects); reading and understanding of Slavonic language from 19th century and earlier; Archives research in Republic of Moldova, Bucharest (Romania), Odessa (Ukraine), Moscow (Russia)
