Academic profile

In 2008 received PhD degree for the dissertation in comparative studies of religion on Religious Conversions among Roma in Eastern Slovakia, which was based on long-term field research in Romani community in Eastern Slovakia. During my academic career I has focused on research subjects related to folk religiosity, transmission of religious and superstition concepts and various topics of Romani studies, including religious conversions of Roma to Pentecostal and Charismatic movements and Jehovah´s Witnesses. Recently I am focusing my attention also to various forms of political participation of Roma in Slovakia and Central and Eastern Europe – participation of Roma on electoral processes, election campaigns and good governance of elected Roma representatives. I am also active in NGO sector and work for National Democratic Institute for International Affairs on their program dedicated to fostering Roma political participation of Roma in Central and Eastern Europe.
