Academic profile
I am a sociologist and my main areas of research include the construction of ethnic identities, focusing on Roma in communist and in post-communist times. I have also conducted projects on labour market strategies of Roma communities as well as on the issue of poverty and ethnicity. I have participated in projects on educational inequalities and done research on the construction of “otherness” and the media both in national and international contexts. Lately, I have been researching issues related to in)tolerance focusing on the extreme right and their anti-Gypsy discourse.
