Academic profile

I am a research fellow at HAS, Centre for Regional Studies I am involved in research projects about poverty and ethnicity in disadvantageous region. In these projects I focus to changing pattern of social and spatial segregation of Roma population connection with level of social services and school segregation. One of my projects focused to reasons for the educational failure/success of disadvantaged Roma youth in public and alternative educational system. Based on fieldwork and life-history interviews I wrote case studies about Roma communities in rural areas to examine alternating periods of integration and segregation and changes in Roma well-being. I discuss the problems of the local Roma population in relation to the changing economic and political environment, and I explore a generational shift in attitudes to educational institutions. I also work at the Eszterházy Károly College, Political Science Department and I teach social policy, social structure and inequalities.
