Academic profile
I am interested in the representation of the Gypsies/Roma in the cultures of the central European area during 17-20
th centuries. Key interest in my research is revealing the (in)consistency of the stereotypes and the resilience of different content to newer scientific and ideological paradigms. Another aspect I am keen on is the “writing back” of the Roma intelligentsia in affirming their own agenda and the manner in which they try to fight back the hegemonic discourses that preceded or are contemporary with themselves. My interest is to finally reveal the artificiality of the cognitive adventure of the both sides involved in (re)creation or justifying a specific repressive respectively self-asserting agenda.
